MEET THE SURGEONS

 

David T. Sowden, MD, FACS

Dr. Sowden received his MD degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1976 and completed his training in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the Ohio State University in 1983. Dr. Sowden took additional training in cardiac surgery at Guy’s Hospital in London, England. Dr. Sowden is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and has achieved Fellowship status in the American College of Surgeons. He is also an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Douglas L. Gray, MD, FACS

Dr. Gray grew up in Northeast Indiana and received his BS degree in Biochemistry from Indiana University in 1987. He received his MD degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1991 and completed training in general surgery in Phoenix, Arizona in 1996. Dr. Gray then completed a residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Indiana University Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and has achieved Fellowship status in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gray is also an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

  Peter I. Rossi, MD

Dr. Rossi is a board-certified specialist in the practice of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery.  He came from Indianapolis where he was in private practice for two years. Dr. Rossi completed his cardiothoracic residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine and completed his general surgical residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.

Dr. Rossi is highly experienced in current methods for treating cardiovascular disease and performs a variety of surgical procedures including mitral and aortic valve repair & replacement, coronary artery bypass, minimally-invasive and beating-heart surgery, aortic aneurysm repair, AAA stent graft placement, valve repair and replacement, MAZE, endoscopic vein harvest, carotid endarterectomy, VADs and a variety of routine arterial and venous surgical procedures.
